Ladies and gents, I got my second SPN vid done and it's another angst one. Yay! (Wow, I'm really disturbed, aren't I?) Now maybe I can start on the killer amount of schoolwork that I have to do (and am deeply perplexed about - see both icon and mood)...

Summary: He taught them to be heroes, forgetting to teach them how to save themselves... Supernatural AU vid. What if Sam and Dean died during the attack in "Shadow?" Now the memories (and hallucinations) of his sons are haunting John Winchester as his guilt grows. This tells a story within a story and is my attempt at emotive storytelling. Very angsty.
Vidder's Notes: Hope you enjoy it and some feedback (including constructive criticism) would be very (I'll give you cookies and/or my possible future children [not that I think you'd want them!] for it) much appreciated (just no flaming, please!)

As for the GA footage, I needed a Jeffrey Dean Morgan character in a hospital to make the story flow and I thought of Denny in GA. I never watched the show before and thought he would be angsty more often, but no, that Denny was as optimistic as ever! I'm just glad I found a few clips that worked! :D
The cast recording is the Michael Ball version. I had a .wma file of another recording, but I searched Youtube and this Michael Ball version appeared and I just fell utterly in love with his voice. It was a really wonderful performance and I knew I had to choose his version instead! :)

And I would just add on the 4shared.com link to this LJ entry. Many of the other members link their vid to their LJ and I feel foolish for not thinking of it as well because it's a good idea.
Is there a way to do this easily or would I have to resumbit and you guys would have to delete the existing file, etc.?

I particularly loved as the music was swelling up for "and they rose with voices ringing" and we see all of the heroic deeds the boys have done. *sniffle*
I loved all of the awesome disappearing bits, especially the "phantom faces at the window" line which just seemed so chilling to me! And I loooooooooved the Grey's Anatomy footage at the end with him going into the light and *sniff* he met Sam and Dean again *SNIFF* and then the quote about not dying of a broken heart, just wishing you would... *SNIFF!!!!* Oh John does "hurting" so prettily, just like those sons of his... *pets them all*

Date: 2007-12-18 02:14 am (UTC)I'm so glad you liked the song. I heard it for the first time a few months ago when I saw Les Mis and I could NOT get it out of my head. It kept running around in circles and screamed "Vid me! Vid me! *cough*Dean/Sam/John angst*cough*" :D I'm glad you liked the lyrical interpretation too because I really wanted to show that this isn't just a Dean&Sam vid (though I really glad the heroic points worked for you because they made me tear up a little too!) or a John vid - it's a full-on Winchester!boys vid full of that wacky Winchester family dynamic.
My favorite part was the ending as well when the music just pulled on the heartstrings all on its own. And the ending was an impromptu thing. I couldn't thing of all to end the vid and then I remembered that particular quote and I figured it would be that much more heartbreaking and poignant and just damnright FITTING if that's how it ended.
Oh John does "hurting" so prettily, just like those sons of his... *pets them all*
OMG AISLYNN! Those were my exact thoughts as I was vidding this! Especially during the "Home" scenes where John was playing with his wedding ring and remembering his sons. Oh, John!
